Japan '14, Hokkaido - Day 11

Location: Shiretoko 5 Lakes

On to our 5th day in Hokkaido & 11th day in Japan!
We were greeted in the morning on our road trip towards Shiretoko's 5 Lakes by a cute fluffy fox!
It was sitting on the gravel roads and happily suntanning and scratching away.

I have no idea why, but the deers seem to be tagged there.
Despite tags, they roam freely on the mountains.

Totally in awe of the Shiretoko mountains. Very, very breathtaking.

Stopped at one of the lakes to take pictures and a long walk along the wooden bridges.
Shall just let the photos do the talking form here on.

On one side of the bridge, the view of the mountains. The other, ending hills that blend into the sea.
And a deer gazing into the distance.

Daddy got me the miniature of the bear I liked! Hehehe! Sho furry.
Then we continued our journey along the mountain pass and stopped in the middle of nowhere for some photos closer to the mountains.

Location: Jun no Banya

Local family restaurant with extremely fresh seafood meals!

Its decor's very brightly coloured. Also, it's very small and cosy inside, despite the freezing weather outside!

Location: La Laiterie Nakashibetsu

More Hokkaido ice cream!

Location: Kaiyodai

This observatory has a 330 degree panoramic view of its surroundings!
Despite a cloudy sky, we got to see most of the view.

Location: Akan Tsuraga Wings, Lake Akan

This has got to be our favourite hotel during our trip in Hokkaido!
It has a view of the lake and also very good dinner!
Very much cosy and comfortable, even though we slept on futon.

The whole room was booked for all our tour members, bus and self-drive people.
Thankful for friendly travel friends made along the trip.
Families of all ages, sizes and walks of life in our self-drive group were all warm-hearted and nice to be around! Also, of course, with the best tour leaders.

After a filling dinner, we went around the lobby's souvenir shops and café to explore.
Came across the White Lover Ice Cream!
From the famous 白い恋人 come ice cream! Must-eat.

Undeterred by our full tummies, the. best. chocolate. ice. cream. ever.

Akan was very friendly to us and I'd love to visit there again when given a chance!
